Children & Youth Ministries

Visitors and friends are always welcome to participate in our children’s ministry programs.

Our Sunday school classes are held between the two Sunday services, so all can join in. Children are welcomed and encouraged to participate fully in our worship services, but options are available if the child or parent prefers.

Our nursery is available for infants and toddlers during both services; elementary-aged children have the option of Children’s Chapel at the 10:15 service, after which we join our families during the Peace to participate in Holy Communion. Youth in 4th grade or older are encouraged to serve as acolytes.

Sunday School
9:00 to 10:00 AM Sundays. All Saints’ Church School classes meet on Sunday mornings between the two services. Classes are grouped by grade level: Preschool/Kindergarten, 1st-3rd grade, 4th-5th grade, and Middle-High School. Lessons are based on Bible stories, Lectionary readings, the church year, the Book of Common Prayer, and current issues. Combined classes are sometimes held for special events. Visitors and friends are always welcome!

Nursery
Available during both Sunday services and the education hour, and special events. Our nursery is open for young children, ages birth to 3, and staffed by a professional caregiver, Jennifer. There is a comfortable chair for nursing and a changing table. Silent pagers are available for parents to carry during worship, so we can summon you if needed.

Children’s Chapel
Starting at 10:05 AM on Sundays. During the beginning of the 10:15 service, we offer children’s chapel for kids ages 3 to 10. We meet in the S.T.A.R. Time room in the education wing downstairs and begin with a short play time, then process to the children’s chapel area for a reading/lesson and prayer time geared to young children. More fellowship follows until the children are brought upstairs to join their families for Communion. Volunteers staff the S.T.A.R. Time room and conduct Children’s Chapel.

Children’s Music
Children sing and play chimes on occasion during worship services. Practice will start soon for our Christmas Eve song.

Youth Group
Our Middle School and High School students hold special activities for fellowship and service approximately once a month. Activities have included Video Game Nights, leaf raking for parishioners, an overnight lock-in at the church, pet food drive, Christmas party, bowling, and assisting with VBS. Check the web calendar for upcoming events, or call Theresa in the church office.

Vacation Bible School
All Saints’ holds a Vacation Bible School for a week each summer, open to all children ages 4 to 12. Our 2010 VBS will be July 19-13 and will take us back to ancient Egypt, where we will learn more about Joseph (the guy with the colorful coat), play some of the games kids really did play in ancient Egypt, write with hieroglyphics, study mummies and pyramids, and sing and dance and eat like Egyptians!
We’ll meet Monday through Friday from 9:00am to noon. Our mission project will be collecting food for the Richland Food Bank and some time during VBS week we will take a field trip there. Also, we plan to sing a couple of our songs in church the following Sunday, July 25. VBS is for kids ages 4 through 5th grade. Middle and high school youth are needed to be Egyptian family leaders.
The cost is $10 for the first child, $5 for each additional sibling. Invite your friends and neighbors! Registration forms are available here and on the activity rack in the narthex, and the bulletin board in the education wing. Come spend a while on the Nile!

Camp Cross
Camp Cross is our Diocesan Camp, located on the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho, holds a full summer schedule of youth, adult, and family camps. Housing is in heated cabins; bathhouses with hot showers are nearby, and a dining hall/gathering room is centrally located. Youth camps start for students entering 4th grade and older. All Saints’ provides scholarship money for every youth in our parish to go to camp their first time; some scholarship money is available for returning campers as well–contact the clergy or Theresa Grate in the church office. Transportation is available by bus from Ritzville, or by carpooling, www.campcross.org.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
